Does Size Matter?

Differences in the size of the pre-roll, even if it is from the same company and the same batch...

does not necessarily mean you are getting duped.

After receiving some feedback about inconsistencies in the size of certain prerolls—even within the same pack—we decided to do a little sleuthing. Armed with our handy-dandy scale, we weighed prerolls that appeared visibly different in size. Our findings? Despite the size variations, each preroll had the same final weight.

Each preroll weighed 1.3g, with the paper itself accounting for 0.3g.

Industry Insider Info:

Every company producing prerolls chooses the best rolling method for them. There are multiple stages in the rolling process, and at each step, different techniques and tools can be used to create a brand’s signature preroll. For example, the process of grinding flower can be done manually or with a machine, and the consistency of the grind affects how the flower settles in the paper. Some companies use machines to pack cones, while others opt for manual packing or even hand-rolling. Prerolls can vary in style—some resemble cigarettes, while others are cones with folded or twisted ends. But regardless of appearance, it’s the weight that matters in the end. Regulations in Massachusetts are incredibly detailed, and weight sheets accompany every delivery. The METRC system—the seed-to-sale tracking program mandated by the Cannabis Control Commission—ensures that every plant is monitored from the time it reaches six inches in height until it leaves our shop in the form of gummies, flowers, vapes, or prerolls.
